Lace, ribbons, bows

LACE

1 FINISHING ON THE HORNS – If the edges of the fabric are sewn with lace, we need to properly connect it at the corners. We fold the ends of the lace right sides together and press them. Bend one end diagonally and iron it too.

2 STAPLING – We fold the upper end of the lace flat to the other. We pin, we baste and sew diagonally. We remove the basting and cut out the excess lace. We press the whole thing and carefully finish the edges.

RIBBONS

1 BASTING – Mark the place where the ribbon is sewn and baste it first. On satin ribbons, with needle marks, we do it right at the edges. Fold the narrow ribbons at an angle at the corners, form a corner of the thicker ones, as with lace.

2 JOINING THE ENDS OF THE RIBBON – At the corners, fold the end of the ribbon diagonally, we roll up and sew it from the top to the other. If the connection is in a straight line, we tuck one end of st 1 cm under the bottom and sew it from above to the other.

BOWLS

A bow can be an ornament or enhance existing finishes. To make a bow, we measure out a strip of fabric of the desired length and double width, adding after 2 cm of reserve on each side. We fold the strip lengthwise in half with the right side to the center. We fasten with pins, baste and sew 1 cm from the not hemmed edge. Leave a small hole in the middle of the seam on the long side, to be able to turn the finished product inside out. Sew the shorter sides diagonally. We cut out unnecessary material in the corners, we turn the strip inside out and iron it. We close the hole with an invisible hemming stitch and tie the bow.
