Lined curtains
LINING curtains have many advantages. First, the lining makes the actual curtain fabric fleshier, letting her fall into shape with pleasing abundance. Secondly, double-layered curtains provide better blackout than unlined curtains. If we put the right material between the two layers, the curtain will gain insulating properties. The curtain can be easily lined with a lining, the "tipper."”; this method is most suitable for small ones, light curtains.
We can also manually line the curtain fabric with a lining. This technique is used primarily for wide ones, heavy curtains.
Sewn-on lining
A sewn-on lining is used, to achieve the most professional finish, especially when sewing wide, heavy curtains of fabric requiring joining pieces. We sew the lining with rows of covered stitches (look down) at regular intervals on the wrong side of the fabric, along its length. Will be needed: material for curtains, lining, gathering tape, hooks and sewing supplies. First, we cut the parts for the veil, sewing them together with an ordinary flat machine stitch. Then we cut the parts of the fabric for the lining – The 13 cm shorter than the length of the curtain fabric. We are leaving 9 cm at the bottom and 4 cm at the top edge. We connect the parts of the lining with a regular flat stitch and trim 4 cm on each side of the finished lining.

- HEADING THE FABRIC – We put on the edges of the curtain fabric 4 cm, and the bottom and bottom corners 5 cm., Press the hem and insert the weights. We sew the hem with a cross stitch. We put the sides and bottom of the lining underneath 1,5 cm, we press.
- DESIGNATION OF RUN UNIONS – Using a set square or a ruler and a tailor's soap or a scribe, draw long lines on the left side of the curtain fabric at intervals of approx. 30-50 cm.
- ATTACHING THE LINING – We pin the lining with pins to the curtain fabric with the left side to the center – along the marked lines. Starting 15 cm from the top edge of the curtain fabric, baste the lining along the first of the vertical lines.
- SEWING THE LINING – Fold back the lining and sew it with a blind stitch along the first basting line, starting 15 cm from the top. We sew wide, sparse stitches, to avoid wrinkling. We sew the lining along the marked lines. We take out the basting.
- FINISHING – We pin, bartack and sew the lining to the curtain with a blind stitch on the sides and at the bottom. We take out the basting. We finish the curtain at the top with the selected shirring tape. We attach the appropriate hooks, we hang up and fasten the curtain.
