Knitting stitch

It is mainly used for finishing raw edges of the fabric. It can also be used as a decorative stitch and then we use a thick thread. An additional effect is given by the use of threads of the same color as the material. We also hemm buttonholes with dense knitted stitching. A suitable thread should be thin and strong at the same time.

1. EXECUTION OF STITCHES – On thick material, we make them at a distance 1 cm from the edge, on thin 5 mm, and when sewing buttonholes -3 mm. Place the thread under the needle.

2. PULLING STITCHES – We pull out the needle like this, so that the thread loop underneath partially runs along the edge of the fabric, and part of it went to the point of needle insertion. We pull the stitch gently, to avoid the edge of the fabric curling, and repeat until the end of its hem. On thick fabric, we sew stitches less frequently, on the thin, denser, and at buttonholes – one next to the other.
