Home-sewn upholstery and curtains can be finished with decorative trimmings. They are irrelevant for the durability of the product, but when used ingeniously, they add flavor and individual character to the blinds, pillows or bed linen. Upholstery products can be trimmed with bias pleats or with strings. You can also use ready-made haberdashery: decorative strings, fringes of lace or ribbons. We sew them on top of the seam or hemm or sew them into them, which enriches the colors and structure of the product.
1. DETERMINATION OF THE DIAGONAL AND THE MATERIAL – We check, whether the edges of the fabric are cut along the thread. if so, we fold the fabric diagonally - the unheamed edge is flush with the adjacent edge. The assembly line forms the diagonal. We press her.
2. MARKING BANDS – We calculate, how long and wide trim will we need. We add a seam allowance. We draw lines parallel to the diagonal in measured intervals with tailor's chalk or a scribe. We cut the fabric into strips.
3. CONNECTING THE STRAPS – We fold the strips with the right side at right angles to each other, so that their edges are in line with the weave of the fabric. Fasten the ends, and if necessary – baste and sew 5 mm from the edges.
4. FINISHING CALLS – We straighten the seam and iron it. We get a long strip with protruding ends on both sides of the seam. We trim these ends. We tie together so many stripes, as much as we need for the entire trim.
