A CURTAIN WITH A LOOSE LINING

Loose lining is an easy way to add a layer to a curtain, which can be detached. A curtain fabric is needed to make such a curtain, gathering tape, fabric for the lining and a separate tape to it, hooks for both straps, sewing utensils. We sew the curtain. We cut the lining to the dimensions of the finished curtain before wrinkling. We put the edges twice after 1,5 cm and sew it on the machine.

1. TAPE LAYING – Fold the lining tape in half lengthwise. We slip the upper edge of the lining into the fold of the tape. After checking, the webbing is in the correct position and that the lining edge is folded in the webbing – we pin with pins.

2. SEWING TAPE – When the lining is in the crease of the tape, Baste the upper and lower edges of the tape. Sew twice along the basting, remembering, that the tape is sewn in the same direction, to avoid wrinkling. We take out the basting and wrinkle the lining.

3. TREATING THE LINING – Attach the lining to the curtain lining with hooks. We put the curtain and lining on a flat surface and shorten the lining like this, that after making a double overlap in width 1,5 cm, it was shorter than the curtain by 3-4 cm. We trim the lining and attach it to the curtain.
